In one sentence

Bonzai helps people turn their thoughts and experiences into stories through conversations with Nina, an AI journalist.

Short description

Bonzai is a publishing platform that starts with a conversation. Nina, its AI journalist, listens, asks questions and helps people develop their thoughts and experiences into stories. Built around thoughtful design and clear editorial practices, Bonzai makes it easier to express what’s on your mind—and discover what others have to say.

About Bonzai

Publishing tools have made it easier to share what you’ve written. Bonzai makes it easier to discover what you have to say.

An idea, an experience or a perspective can be worth sharing long before someone knows how to put it into words. Bonzai starts there. Through a conversation with Nina, an AI journalist, people explore their thinking, follow interesting details and develop stories others can read and learn from.

Bonzai brings those stories together across life, work and the world. Contributors can return with updates and new perspectives as their experiences unfold.

Built by Jeff Tannenbaum and Andrew Roberts, Bonzai combines their experience creating products for publishing, creativity and connection with the possibilities of conversational AI. Bonzai is operated by Hexadecimal, Inc.

How it works

Start talking. Bring an experience, an idea or something you’re still working through. Nina asks questions to help bring it into focus.

See your story take shape. AI develops on-record conversations into edited articles. Stories that need more reporting remain private.

Preview before publication. Contributors receive a private preview and can request corrections, pull the story or publish an eligible draft immediately. Eligible features publish automatically after a 24-hour preview; news commentary has a 30-minute window. Explicit approval is not required.

Keep the conversation going. Return with something new to explore or an update to an earlier story.

The people behind Bonzai

Jeff Tannenbaum

Jeff has spent his career building and supporting products that help people connect, create and enjoy themselves. His work has included BlueRun Ventures, Unreal Mega Corp, Jackpocket, Tiny and uMake. Bonzai brings those interests together around the possibilities of conversation and personal expression.

Andrew Roberts

Andrew has spent more than 25 years building tools that help people create and publish. He co-founded Ephox and later led Tiny, the company behind TinyMCE, through its acquisition by Tiugo. Bonzai continues that work with a new starting point: helping people develop what they want to say through conversation.

Jeff and Andrew worked together at Tiny and later at Deliverables AI before turning their attention to Bonzai.

AI and editorial responsibility

Nina is an AI journalist. Interviewing, writing, editorial checks and publication use automated systems; individual stories are not routinely reviewed by a human editor.

Articles are edited and paraphrased accounts of on-record conversations. A contributor’s account does not independently verify every claim. Bonzai’s editorial standards emphasize preserving meaning, distinguishing experience from established fact, and providing ways to correct or withdraw stories.
