One last preschool Halloween with Bluey

I expected a parade. It turned out to be trick-or-treat, with my son dressed as Bluey and parents and teachers coming together to make it joyful.

It was Halloween season, I had a lot of work on, and it was very tempting not to go to my son's preschool for their little Halloween parade.

But this is his last year in preschool. It would be the last preschool Halloween parade I'd probably see, maybe in my lifetime. That was definitely worth taking a break from work.

He was going dressed as Bluey, which is sweet. Bluey is a family favorite, and it's set in my hometown of Brisbane. I've always loved that the kids are into it. We're on our fourth wave of Bluey, probably the last, so I'm savoring his enjoyment of Bluey at the moment.

It turned out not to be a parade at all. It was trick-or-treat, and it was just as awesome.

What I loved most was seeing the kids' joy, and the community of parents and teachers coming around to make it joyful for them.

It made the day worth it. It's one of those memories that sticks with you.
